State of the Republic - Year 17 day 226

To start off the address, as a gentle reminder. Being a citizen of the New Republic gives us the right to voice our opinions without the fear of retaliation or censorship. We are one of the few governments and groups where you can openly voice your discontent of the leadership without being thrown out or even killed. However, this freedom of speech also carries with it inherent problems that all too often can be observed in our conversations. Different opinions can lead to heated discussions and actions, tearing our Republic apart from the inside when we should be standing together to face our enemy. At the end of the day we all have a common united goal, to defeat the enemy and bring about peace to the galaxy. So please try to respect the views of others while conversing and keep it civilized.

Army Command
Jin Solas has taken over the position as Army CO from Wolfgang Nospe and has chosen Kara DuMonte Webb as his second in command with a promotion to the rank of General.
Starfighter Command
High Marshal Lance Nightsky has been appointed to the position of Chief of Starfighter Command. Mami Ogawa has been promoted to the rank of Marshal and appointed as Deputy Chief of Starfighter Command.

As suggested by outgoing High Ambassador Gryffyn Grayurra Deputy Ambassador Natalis Oro has been asked to take over the leadership of RDC and she accepted the promotion.

Galactic Alliance Treaty
Due to various circumstances including the upcoming election of the next Secretary General the current discussion concerning the Galactic Alliance Treaty has progressed slowly this past month with little changes. The Galactic Alliance Leadership Council anticipates making progress in the near future.

The production stage of our System Defense Group project is nearing it's end. Following it will be the distribution of the equipment to our various systems.
Jandur Mining
Thanks to our military officers and civilian volunteers the mining and transportation of the raw materials from Jandur is steadily going on. A big thank you for those people taking the boring job of flying slow Tabders all the way out there and back again.
Knel`char III FI Planet
The development of Knel`char III is slowly progressing, mainly by the dedicated work of our guys from Med-O and BMF. For everyone interested in taking part in the construction process please contact Andrew Harris.

War Games
The New Republic Military and New Republic Military Reserves participated in the Rift Alliance / Galactic Alliance War Games. For more information check the Awards section of this SotR.
Secure Pyria
After the discovery of the Pyria system on Day 173 of Year 17 by the Invid Order, the NR and other GA faction were asked to aid the Order in the defence of the planets against invading GE forces and from future aggressors attempting to seize control.
Together the joint forces of the The Invid Order, The Resistance and The New Republic were able to stop the hostile construction activities and set up shield grids to prevent planet access to the aggressors. Almost the whole system is now under full control of the Invid Order. Pyria V is fully shielded and will eventually be taken back.
The leader of The Invid Order, Draith Shadux, had this to say:
In all my years in SWC, I've never encountered a group that's been willing to aid another on the level that you all have. I'm truly astonished and overwhelmed with the support you all provided us in our time of need.
Once again, thank you all so much for helping us out. Any time, any place you need us, we will be there for you all. On behalf of the Invid, we look forward to building a strong relationship with the NR and the GA and we thank you all once more for all that you have done.

The whorlheart plant is a vine native to the vast jungles of Borleias, in the Pyria system. Its fruiting vines spiral down from the branches of affected trees high above the jungle floor. Each mature fruit is several inches across, and hangs below the leaves of said vine. Whorlheart fruit has a bright and sweet flavor to match their yellow-to-red coloration, and their flesh is soft and juicy.
The whorlheart plant has evolved in parallel with numerous varying animals across Borleias. Its seeds are somewhat sticky, and attach to the stomach wall of select animals for many hours in order to take up and chemically concentrate digestive acids. When planted, these seeds will then acidify the nearby soil to compete with other plants. For their part, as the seeds take up acid, they release nutrients important to the diets of some Borleias species.
Whorlheart seeds are not quite sticky enough to attach to the stomach walls of animals that have not evolved in parallel with them, so the effect of acid absorption is mild in galactic sentients. As such, whorlheart seeds act as a mild antacid, and are quickly becoming a part of local medicine for indigestion and heartburn. In addition, Borleias residents quickly realized the whorlheart fruit's potential for fermentation, giving many colonists dreams of becoming successful vintners.

The event was a full success and several leaders of foreign factions expressed their gratitude for this „distraction“ from everyday life. Additional to the awards for Operation "Secure Pyria" Council Member Knightcrawler of the Invid Order gave an additional Whorlheart Fruit to Natalis Oro for organizing the event.
Shipyard in Engebo
The New Republic has 11 Shipyards I in Engebo system which will be available for use by the New Republic Citizens. To start the program one shipyard will be available per Citizen and only production for personal usage will be allowed. Please contact High Marshal Nightsky if you are interested in using one of the shipyards.

War Games
The New Republic Military and New Republic Military Reserves participated in the Rift Alliance / Galactic Alliance War Games. The war games provided training, tactics, testing among the various participants. While most of the war games where among the various RA / GA allies, enemy forces also provided additional training and unity among the participants.

During cleanup, a TSK Officer attacked our Troops and an Officer of the Rogue Squadron along with his troops.
Loren, Trace, and myself (Orion) moved in to grab the wounded Troops giving medical healing, as well as myself force healing the RS Officer and squad while Loren and Trace got into position and help neutralize the TSK Officer and his large droid force. During the force healing I also engaged the TSK Officer and squad.
