State of the Republic - Year 16 Day 284

Greetings gentlebeings of the New Republic,
welcome to the SotR for the month of August and September.
Senate:
The Twentienth Session has ended and the recent elections have resulted in some changes to the Senate. I'd again like to welcome the returning Senators Cornforth, Derr and Rae and thank the parting Senators Passik and Webb for their commitment to the NR.
AC:
MoCE David Archer is currently on parental leave and we decided that it’s better to look for a replacement to keep activities in the Ministry going on. So starting today Grath Gelenek will take over as Minister and Tidus Rose will be working as his deputy. Congrats to both of them.
GA:
The annual elections for the Secretary General confirmed Jake Azzameen in office. Since Anniasha Shahir was lacking the time to continue as his deputy NR’s CoS Endaro Kassan will take over this position.
NR vs. Zann:
During the last months there were two encounters between the New Republic and the Zann Consortium.
The first one was a petty theft carried out by a Zann member disguised as a new NR military cadet. Instead of only picking up his gear needed for his training and work he took with him a bunch of other stuff from the supply ship and left NR space. Following this the military has changed and increased security measures for their equipment.
The second was a flawed NRI intel operation about which you probably have read on the GNS posted by Zann. NRI had been contacted a couple of months ago by a member of the Zann Consortium who wanted to help the NR bringing down Zann’s leader Ximaro Jix. The NRI leadership decided to use this member as an informant only, but despite several warnings to keep his head low he began to try to recruit other Zann members for NRI and eventually even tried to lure Jix into a trap to arrest him. Which obviously failed.
Although this Zann member clearly disregarded NRI’s suggested proceedings for the operation it was decided to retrieve him from imprisonment when Zann offered the opportunity.
Despite other reports from Jix’s side NRI will not rest their operations and counterintelligence measures against the Zann Consortium and its subsidiaries.
NRI:
NRI has successfully supported Krath forces to retrieve some of their ships trapped under the shields of planet controlled by the Tresario Star Kingdom.
Military:
The military has started its training operation at Serrocco. May the force be with our people.
