Fellow citizens, this past month has been another month filled with ups and downs, but we are still moving forward and the State of the New Republic is still strong. With the loss of our Minister of Trade and Industry, the information I have available is not as complete as it usually is. The Advisory Council is currently discussing candidates to fill this spot.

Republic Diplomacy Command has continued to be hard at work. In this past month, two new Private Sector Agreements have been signed, Ketsujo-Nemuri and Offworld Mining. In addition to that, two Alliance treaties have been signed; one with Sons and Daughters of Freedom and the other with Red Star Alliance. After many months, we actually have a group of Governors that will oversee and maintain differing areas of our territory. RDC has also reported to having utilized the Holocron and answered quite a few foreign queries. We are also seeing a revival of the Galactic Alliance talks that had a major set back when two of the participating groups could not resolve an issue. I am excited with the direction that the talks are going this time. Last but not least, after intensive negotiations, RDC was able to acquire the moon Sulon which is in the orbit of Sullust and very close to a major shipyard complex. This has opened up a very friendly exchange and hopefully will be able to build a stronger relationship with LankCo Mining Concern.

Discussions are also taking place internally that I hope will lead to a positive change in how we communicate and do business. Our Chief of Military Operations, Dan Russ, is aggressively working on an Officer's Handbook to have a set of guidelines for our military officers to follow and know what is expected of them. Minister Mindano has started a discussion dealing with how the Advisory Council works and how it relates to the chain of command. New Republic Army Command has had an issue arise that has caused it to take a serious look at its communication and organization. The Republic Leadership Council is discussing the issue of retaining leaders and the ongoing discussions with the Senate are all positive steps to making the New Republic a better place.

As I did last month, I am very pleased to finish this address with an award ceremony.

Republic Medical is a group of citizens that have been going above and beyond the call of duty for several months now. Not only have they been working very hard at organizing and preplanning medical care for the military in anticipation for the start of hostilities, they have also been working very closely with our production groups to help in assisting in whatever area was needed – completely outside their job description. I am hereby, upon the recommendation of High Admiral Kapryn, bestowing on all current employees of Republic Medical the Outstanding Excellence Award.
