State of the Republic - Year 14 Day 72

Greetings NRians!
The last few weeks have been a time of deep sadness within the Republic, with the loss of our Chief of State Cheda Quche. Whilst we all mourn his passing, the NR has not slacked off or been hit on a practical level by this tragedy. We have continued to push forward the plans that we had, both within the NR and within the GA.
Now to the GE GNS...
Firstly, to confirm, most of that post is utter rubbish. There was no vendetta between myself and Cheda, the message from him to me itself shows that I had nothing to do with his death - his trust in me, my trust in him and our friendship has never wavered even if we have argued publically over diplomatic stuff. Why else would he make over the NR to me so willingly. I will be handing over the NR to whomever wins the CoS election so if there are any doubts as to my intentions in all of this, you will see next week that my intentions have always been good. There is also no internal AC power struggle at all. We have been totally united throughout all of this. I'm perfectly willing to admit that tempers were frayed by what happened as people were totally confused as to what was going on, but ultimately the working relationship that ACers hold with each other has not wavered at all. We have worked hard to ensure the various projects keep going etc.
We did not bother to contact the GE, but of course we didn't. What's the point. We don't negotiate with terrorists etc. Cheda did send "one last signal"… the message to me. His message also shows that he resigned.
Oh and just for the record... the GA is kicking imperial ass on Derra >.>
Now to move onto other things...
As already mentioned, we have tried out best to keep all our various projects going. My goal as interim Chief of State has been to finalise as many as possible so that we at least have a framework piece of AC advice to give the new Chief on all the current issues the AC is discussing, most of which I'm pleased to say we appear to have made good progress on. I shall list various details of some of these below. I apologise for the rather brief nature of some of these but I just wanted to get this written and out rather than make it all pretty and perfect.
Firstly, we are rescinding awards from the following - Edhrikhor Tlakh`sar, Mott Skyblade, Gawayne, Uzziah Akim, Dracul Elensar, Morden Veritas, Zeff Traner, Aladron Scordonian, Philip Kanoone and Keishi Miahr. The wiki will be updated to reflect this.
We have made good progress clearing all the NR crewlists. Thanks to all who helped out there. As a result the shield permit system will be more strict from here on. When requesting shield access you MUST give a length of time that you need access for. This will make it much easier for us to give you access and then remove it.
Cheda's term as GA Secretary General actually ended a few days before his death. The vote is ongoing for his replacement.
We are discussing the best way to tackle the tax changes and how to improve our income. This is a heads up that the NR lost a lot of income over these changes, fortunately we will be able to recover some of that with the "5 planet change" that the admins have announced, allowing us to convert 5 Tax planets into FI planets. Discussions are ongoing as to which planets to submit.

Denab tax planet is complete! Well done to everyone that was involved in that project! Its also not affected too badly by the tax changes!
Operations on Derra are proceeding well, the GA has good control over the planet and are working well together.
Arkanian Brotherhood has been accepted back into the GA!
We have a new trade treaty with the Trade Federation that encourages free trade between our two factions.

Lahasa is doing a lot of work at AC level, not only related to his own ministry but helping out wherever he can. In addition he did a hell of a lot of Denab tax planet himself so I'd just like to recognise a number of things Lahasa has done with this award!
