State of the Republic - Year 10 Day 339

Greetings Republicans!!

Sadly (or a cause of celebration to some of you I suppose) this is my second last State of the Republic Address. I have decided not to seek re-election to the office of Chief of State. I have said it several times, in several places, but I wanted to make it official. While I have enjoyed my time as Chief of State, it is literally the most trying job in the Galaxy. I want all of the candidates who are running to know that. It will not be an easy position for you, but it is one that you can do some good in. I encourage every eligible being to deeply consider running, but to only make the decision after much thought and meditation.

On a related note, elections are going to be held a little differently this time. As this is really only the second normal election we have ever had, we are still working on ways to improve it. The senate and I agree that this is one way to help that cause. Campaigning will actually begin in November, and we will have a Chief of State elect approximately two weeks before the new CoS takes office. This will be a nice transition period, where the new CoS can begin to learn the ropes, be briefed on any important and pressing matters, and generally become accustomed to the position. I will remain in control of the faction during that period, until the new Chief is inaugurated.

Here is our calendar (it's not gospel yet, but it's our best outline to date):

Nov 15th: CRI announces voter registration opening. (Since if we're going to ballotbin, it'll take longer to move them all over and a coupler of days notice would be nice. Nov 17th: Campaigning begins. Nov 23rd: Voting begins. Nov 30th: Voting ends. Dec 14th: New CoS inauguration.

Write these dates into your datapads, and set your R2's alarm clocks to extra loud warble mode. They are important.

Now, since I know you are all sick of hearing about me, let's turn to what has been happening in the Republic over the past month.

With Gavin Kaos suddenly needing a nice quite trip to the unknown regions for an undetermined amount of time, Taka Aioko has stepped into the role of Minister of Trade and Industry. As anyone could expect, Taka is already shaking things up and bringing a new kind of energy and vision to the position. With Evan Traner, Ezekial Nien and Iznja Khaldo as our sexy new Associate Ministers, our production team is as strong as it ever has been.

CRI is undergoing a major restructuring, and will soon be in better shape than is has been in a long time. I'd tell you more, but then I’d have to kill you.

With Belecalaryn finished, our Ministry of Culture was sitting around wondering what to do next. It was then that Nat stood up and bravely stated well, on to the next one! If you are interested in joining the TP machine of the NR, you should send Nat a message. It is a vital and very rewarding position within the Republic, and I would encourage those of you interested to apply!

I also must announce the removal of High Admiral Frollo the White from his command position. After talking with Chief Military Officer LaSalle, Former CMO Russ, and myself, Director Blackgate called a vote of no confidence on him. The majority of the advisory council felt that this was the proper direction for the New Republic to go. I do not expect Frollo to leave the New Republic, and I do feel his loyalty and experience can be applied to other areas, but he is not the High Admiral the New Republic needs. I made the final decision on the matter, after a discussion with the AC and the Senate. I wish him the best of luck in his next endeavor.

His replacement was a unanimous no brainer. Admiral Josh Jericho has shown a knack for leadership, and supreme dedication to the Navy. We are very excited about the direction he will take the Navy in, and look forward to the new point of views he brings to the Advisory council. It is with this in mind that I can formally announce Josh Jericho as the High Admiral of the New Republic. Drinks are on him!

I want to thank all of you for your hard work over this past month. I also want to thank all of the support I have received as Chief of State. An election like this is what makes us so unique in a galaxy of oppression. The freedoms we enjoy here are second to none. The Republic is still the best Government in the galaxy, and I for one am excited to see where this next election will take us!
