State of the Republic - March 2009

Zeff steps out of the building surrounded by several aides of varying races and a few that are obviously body guards. Stepping up to the platform he smiles, though you can tell by the bags under his eyes that it has been a trying week. Taking a final deep breathe he begins his monthly address:

"Greetings New Republicans! This has been a very trying month for us, and I appreciate all of the support that AC and myself have received.

First of all a quick update from the army side of things. For a few months now we have been doing an officer exchange program with our brothers at the Falleen Federation. High general Nospe has informed me that this is going exceptionally well, and as such is undergoing an expansion! We feel this program is mutually beneficial to our Armies, and are thrilled at the success thus far!

On the much sexier Navy side of things, we are proud to be replacing our older escort ships with a brand new batch of Saboath Destroyers. They are the premier light escort ship in the Galaxy, and we are very excited for the good they can do in our navy. It also fills me to the brim with pleasure to announce that Josh Jericho has been named Executive officer of the New Republic navy! Congratulations!

On the civil side of things, we continue to work on rapidly expanding our Tax income by building new tax planets. Gojin Zen has been doing truly amazing work, so if you see him buy him a drink eh?

We also are working to expand our fleet with an increased production of fighters and ships, which the production guys have taken to it like nerfs to the pasture. Thanks for all the hard work :). We are also planning on merging our production factions, as it just occurred to us that such a thing may be possible. We are excited for the prospect of shared leadership, and the new level of efficiency that such a system would bring, Azzi has worked tirelessly to get the factions ready for merger so expect more on that next month.

Congratulations to Shaun Lightforce of Toskan Industries and Serli Sarn of Triton Dynamics, our two new faction leaders!

Now, onto the reason you are all listening to this, the situation with Black Sun. Evidence (Azzi has since posted said evidence, tip of the hat gandy) surfaced implicating Owen von Ismay, Gawayne, Michael Turner, and former Chief of State Edhrikhor T'laksar as black sun agents in the New Republic. I authorized a CRI operation to arrest Owen, which failed. Edhrikhor was already in the custody of the Jedi order, but the other three have since fled, verifying the truth of the evidence. We were able to secure all assets, and the NR has not lost any material assets during this operation. While this is a huge loss for us, we should press on with a lighter heart, knowing that we have gotten the ring-leaders of Black Sun activity in the New Republic. We must remain vigilant against their plots, and evil.

Many of you trusted Owen. I trusted him as much, if not more than you all did. It was an error in judgment, and for that I apologize. Make no mistake, we were betrayed but we must not resort to witch hunting. This has shaken our trust, but we cannot give in to paranoia, for that is what Black Sun wants most of all. They like to think that they can control this Republic from the shadows, and giving into the sense of distrust they create is something that they would love. Be cautious, but do not alienate your brother(and sisters) in arms. If we are to move on and grow we must stick together as one. Long Live the New Republic!"

Zeff steps down and is seen talking with Azzi as they move back into the conference center on Adbatar.
