State of the Republic - July 2008

Fellow citizens of the New Republic, I wanted to let you know that I did not forget to make an address last month, but that there just was not enough that occurred publicly to justify making an address. This month is the exact opposite. All departments of the New Republic have been busy and the State of the Republic is strong.

First things first, as you already know, our Minister of State, Phymp Mindano, has stepped down. The Advisory Council has been aware of this possibility long enough that we were prepared for this announcement. I am happy to announce that High Admiral Kapryn has accepted the appointment to become our new Minister of State. He has been highly involved with our military production efforts and Galactic Alliance discussions and negotiations. He has proven himself to be more than capable to handle the position and I am confident that he will excel.

I have approved the awarding of the Perlemian Star of Freedom, nominated by High Ambassador Azzamean, to Minister Mindano for his years of dedicated effort to the cause of freedom and the exceptional accomplishments that he has attained, all selflessly. Thank you Phymp, for everything.

Per Article 3.7 of the Constitution, I am hereby naming High Marshal Dan Russ, Chief of Military Operations, as the Second in Command of the New Republic. If anything were to happen to me, Marshal Russ would assume the duties of Chief of State.

The next announcement is a bit more complicated. Admiral LaSalle has been appointed to the position of High Admiral, but this will not be official until the end of the next Senator elections to prevent any issues with Senator replacements. That being said, I hereby announce the opening of campaigning for the position of Senator. Voting will begin in one week. The following Senators are up for re-election if they so choose: Thrass Karr`das, Sephe Nighthawk, and {{ProfileLink|Aeternal Conclave]]. During this election, the person with the fourth highest votes will assume the rest of Senator LaSalle's term which ends Year 10 Day 142 and allow him to assume his duties as High Admiral.

Republic Diplomacy Command has been continuing its work in supporting the new Governors where possible and the Ministry of Economic Development. They have clarified the position and treaty of the successor of the Sons and Daughters of Freedom, Tresario Star Kingdom. This group is considered non-aggressive and the Alliance Treaty held with SDF will not carry over. The High Ambassador has made a proposal to create an Alliance with the Triumvirate Coalition. This proposal is currently in the hands of the Senate.

We are continuing to strengthen our military with production of capital ships, fighters, and Army equipment. Our departments are hard at work preparing us for the coming hostilities. The military itself has been conducting personnel reviews of its officers as a continued policy of developing their careers. I was also extremely pleased to receive intelligence reports as to the quality of our officers who were baffling Galactic Empire command officers with how they conducted operations in the field. The military also has several operations that are wrapping up that have ensured the security of several of our territories. I am proud to be protected by these men and women.

Finally, our mining operations are continuing to expand and make up for the loss of Republic Mining. I don't know the numbers, but I am sure that we are close to a total recovery from that event. We are also in the planning stages of several new tax and income planets as well as the continued support of the Governor Act. We are looking at increasing the budget for that over the next few months.
