Huw Roon, Gile Landala – RNN Broadcast, REPUBLICA
Tonight’s hosts will be Gile Landala & Huw Roon:
Your holoscreen flashes to black as that insanely boring commercial finally ends. The logo of the RNN flashes over to a black screen before cutting away to two sentients sitting at a news desk.
HUW: “Salutations everyone! Welcome to our glorious capital of Republica. I’m Huw Roon."
GILE: “And I’m Gile Landala.”
HUW: “You must all have seen, heard or even smelled it: CoS Elections are upon us!”
GILE: “You know it people, it is time for us to decide who will represent our nation in it's whole for the upcoming year and boy are we excited to see how this one will end.”
HUW: “This year only two candidates have presented themselves willing to take this responsibility upon themselves.”
Image of both candidates pops into the upper left corner as the two continue to speak.
GILE: “Current Chief of State Orion Chran is seeking re-election and Senator Darcks Galvan has chosen to run once again. Looks like this year’s race is a rematch!”
HUW: “Both candidates possess an impressive set of credentials. The two candidates both come from military backgrounds, having served for many, many years."
GILE: “That’s not the only similarities between them, Huw. Both are strong supporters of justice system reform and believe that strengthening the New Republic’s economy is key to bolstering our fight against the Imperial Union."
HUW: “How they have proposed to do this though differs slightly. Senator Galvan has said he would like to see the NR branch out its trading, getting a stronger foothold in the Galactic market; in particular the Trade Federation’s marketplace.”
GILE: “Chief of State Chran has said he would like to see his Open Planetary Development proposal pass, which would help support planetary development and provide additional economic efforts to the NR.”
HUW: “We asked each candidate to record a brief message to the public. We’ll let Orion Chran go first”
Huw and Gile look forward as there images are replaced with Orion Chran in his office. The recording begins.
CHRAN: “Through our various actions the Galactic community hears our voice and knows we are here to fight for our beliefs. Within the last year alone our Allies know we mean business and will stand up and take action. “
“It takes teamwork to propel the New Republic forward. We have a great community, to which ever Citizen is entitled to speak freely of their opinion, provide ideas, and offer solutions.“
The feed cuts back to Gile and Huw.
GILE: "You know Huw, I think we make a pretty good team."
HUW: "If you call a team me doing all the work!"
Gile: "It's not my fault I have to sleep; you have double the time. And without further ado, Darcks Galvan.”
Again Gile and Huw are replaced by a candidate; this time it’s Darcks Galvan.
GALVAN: “I think it's important for us to have more unity after this election is over. We need to help each other to improve the New Republic. Regardless of who wins, I'm sure that we are all going to work for the betterment of the New Republic on the upcoming year. Together we shall prevail.”
"Next year will be a challenging year, I think we HAVE several topics to discuss and solve. We need a strong and active leadership in order to achieve that.
I’d like to finish with: Make sure to vote, make sure to make your voice be heard."
HUW: “Senator Galvan is right. Make sure you vote; every vote matters.”
GILE: “And just as important, make sure you have registered to vote! Remember you must be a citizen with at least 3 consecutive months of membership to register.”
HUW: “After you make sure you are able to vote take a few minutes to look over everything the candidates have said, visit their campaign sites, make a vote for who YOU think will best suit the NR.”
GILE: “And with that dear audience, from all of us here at RNN we wish you a happy election week.”
HUW: “Good luck to Orion Chran and Darcks Galvan.”
GILE: “This has been an RNN broadcast with your hosts Gile Landala…”
HUW: “and Huw Roon.”
GILE: “May the force be ever with you, goodnight NR.”
With Gile’s closing statement the credits roll and audio of the two goes mute like every broadcast before. You watch Gile turn to Huw and place a closed fist on an open palm. The pair plays a few rounds of rock, datapad, lightsabre as the credits scroll. The RNN logo flashes once as a familiar black finds the screen.
