==Biography==
Elijah Descartes was born on Year -17 Day 84 on the planet Alderaan, the first and only child of a rich and self-made family of bankers. Eli was homeschooled, and hence lead a relatively isolated childhood; his main source of interaction being in the numerous sports he took part in.

As he entered his teen years, Eli began to understand that he was expected to one day take over the family business. He worked and studied hard, but always knowing that his aspirations stretched far beyond material wealth. At the age of nineteen, he arranged passage off-world and a few weeks later found himself on Tatooine. Having little coin to his name, Eli allowed the owner a small shop to take him under his wing. It wasn't particularly glamorous, but this is where the young Alderaanian gained his first taste of business. He ventured into the desert to barter with Jawa clans - ventures that were usually successful for both parties - for goods that he could sell in the city, the finer points of negotiation becoming almost second nature. At the age of twenty-two, Eli began working in middle-management for a small chain of factories. He proved himself able to both organise and inspire the workforce several times over. Eventually, however, he found himself in a New Republic Recruitment Office.

He was an unknown in the early days, his career relatively uninspired. A skilled manager, he eventually accepted an offer from [[Profiles:Het Patchateeka|Het Patchateeka]] to join [[NAT:Kerdos Company|Kerdos Company]] - in order to set up a production branch. Eli would eventually go on to lead Kerdos company at the relatively young age of thirty-one.

Some months passed, and the running of Kerdos was quite smooth although there was always work to be done. It wasn't long after stepping up to the helm of Kerdos that Eli was asked by [[Government:CoS|Chief of State]] [[Profiles:Ro Ru Wok|Ro Ru Wok]] to sit on the [[Government:AC|Advisory Council]] as his [[MoS:Main|Minister of State]]. Eli spent the early months of his new seat learning what it meant to be a member of the Advisory Council.

Eli ran for Chief of State in the Year 16 Day 161 elections, but lost out to both [[Profiles:Endaro Kassan|Endaro Kassan]] and [[Profiles:Damon Phet|Damon Phet]] - having only secured 30% of the vote himself. Endaro went on to win the by-election, and Eli continued to serve as Minister of State under Chief of State Kassan.
